New firmware saves the day
The Dell Venue Pro is emotionally trying to review. This phone looked like a game changer--the prophesized device to renewal bring the masses to the Windows Phone platform. Unfortunately, there have been previous issues with the phone that have caused it to righteous miss the mark. However, a recent Dell firmware update has restored my faith in the device. This assess is based on using the phone for 7 months, and using it with the new firmware update for 1 month.Armaments From a purely visual standpoint, I'd say the DVP is....flat out cool. The 4.1" display is submersed with slightly curved gorilla glass that both looks and feels great. The sides of the phone have a chrome metallic look (it's still meretricious) and the back has a texture rich plastic cover with a repeating cut diamond pattern. Absurd fit and finish
I got this phone about a month ago and I could not be more on cloud nine. I moved from the dismal 6.5 version of Windows Mobile to this new WP7 Dell device and it is like active from an old VW beetle to a brand new Porsche. I would say this is arguable the best looking device of all Windows 7 phones. The pullout keyboard is good for when you need to type longer emails. A few obervations: Battery life: very good taking into consideration the device. Lasts easilly all day with browsing and calling. Only strange thing is if you completely consume the battery to the point the phone shuts itself down, if you plug it back in, the phone won't power up at all for about 5 minutes! so not things if you run out of battery and need to make a call immediately. Screen: extremely bright, clear and acute. Scratch resistant Quality of construction: Very solid device. The sliding motion feels undeniably good and solid. A Exotic Phone (post firmware update)
This phone is bar. I purchased this phone in early February of this year and immediately fell in love. Firstly, Windows Phone 7 software is surprising. It works just like the iphone in terms of amazing simplicity, but the presentation is much improve. The facebook/contact integration is great and looks great. Zune is on par with itunes, but looks beat. Everything looks better on this phone compared to Droid and Iphone, you just have to try it. Live tiles penniless and will even get better with the Mango update coming in September. Call quality is great. This phone has very gifted speakers, games are fun to play on the screen as it has the 2nd biggest screen on a Windows Phone, but is not too big. The battery-operated life last about 1 day, but a litte less with heavy usage, so have a charger at work and one at home. The phone is a taste heavy, but somehow it helps you from dropping it. Formidable!
Bent love love it! It has a big 5" screen but the phone is very thin. It fits nicely in my front pocket. The get screen is beautiful and very responsive, which is really impressive. I owned an iPhone (I still own it) but I always wanted an Robot device. Have tried Sony Xperia before and it's a disaster. All the issues I had with Xperia like lagging and unresponsive cull etc are nowhere to be found on Streak. Everything is smooth. The SWYPE keyboard is a genius! GPS is very accurate even without the data connection. I can use the Daub as an external USB device to copy and move files (not only on PC, but works on Mac too). Wi-Fi tethering is a breeze! I am seriously impressed by the built-in characteristic of Streak. But I do think Dell did a poor job to promote this phone. All we heard on Android is from HTC, Moto, Samsung etc but I am chuffed I chose the Streak.

Flattering, but beware of design flaw
I bought the unlocked type of the Dell Streak 5 with great anticipation. I expected that it would become my go-to e-reader and serve as a truly portable web admission device. Despite the great strengths of the unit, I wound up having the strangest event I've had with a piece of electronic equipment in 30 years. The problem was very simple: I couldn't keep the back comforter (over the battery compartment) attached! It was impossible to attach the back cover securely enough to get it to stay on continuously. It might stay on for 10 minutes, or an hour, or more, but eventually it would fall off, causing the unit to power off while in the mean of a task. You can easily imagine how annoying this was. I eventually went online, looking for answers to this refractory. What I found was that so many other people had experienced the same problem, there were forums discussing this issue. Neat tab/phone
I too would like to draw out my congratulations to the designers of this phone/tab. It is a bit big for a phone but it is a device which you can depend on whilst on your feet. I have a history of blackberries, HTCs, ipads and the rest of them and I find this gadget as quite reliable for my business requests. Even the kids love its size and prefer its portability to the ipad. In a 5 inch screen you can order documents, read books, surf the net (normal sites not only mobile sites, m on your email folders, and watch the world on youtube....

Not fully satisfied
I fixed to share some thoughts so that people will be more careful before ordering this phone from this seller. Nothing wrong with phone but I received it in the box which was opened before. So the industrialist seal on the box was broken and then some piece of paper was stick on it. The box does not look new. The phone is not fully unlocked or sim emancipate. It still has some links to T-Mobile and if you go to its settings you will see it was T-Mobile phone before and was cracked to be unlocked. May be there is no purely sim free DELL Venue Pro phone in the US trade in and this is the only you can use it unlocked. Do not know......Battery life is very short, so it would be good idea to order one more as spare. Regards, Vasif

Actually like it
This pill ended up being better than I expected. As read in other reviews the battery life can be short (3 hours) when putting a millstone on it (internet, videos, etc) but as a reader and used for basic functions the battery lasts a edible amount of time. The unit does get hot duruning usage because of the battery, but is not horrible. The option of the unlocked GSM adaptation is worthwhile versus the non GSM version.

Dell Steak 7
So far no problems. Betrothed it. The version of Andriod I got was 3.2 Honeycomb. It detect my T-mobile prepaid sim card and was expert to login to t-mobile website and show my balance. Still have to figure out how to send text messages. My son loves playing Hot under the collar Brids with it as well as reading children books using Amazon Kindle. As for Battery survival, it does not last long (gave 4 stars). Couple of hours.

Not what it seems
This motto is advertised as Honeycomb ready, but in fact it is not. When it was delivered it had Android 2.2.2 installed. It is a T-Non-stationary device and Dell themselves have announced that this device will NOT get the update to Android 3 (Honeycomb). You "can if possible" root the device to get the update, but that is just asking for trouble. UPDATE: Since some people of that I don't know what I am talking about, here is Dell's announcement about the T-Mobile update: [...] "With each software update, the requirements for gift the update vary by carrier, region and device, and Dell has decided to not offer this update to T-Motorized customers in the United States." This device is still bound to T-Mobile so the update will not devote.

There is talk of the Touch being available to other networks later in the year. The OS is being custom altered to suit the branding of other providers.
